Our Beliefs
Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and bless His name. - Psalm 100:4 (NLT)

At Venice Church we strive to create a Christ-centered family where our members grow in maturity, ministry and through their life’s mission in order to magnify God’s name. For members in God’s family to become fully devoted followers of Christ.

At Venice it is our goal to be culturally relevant, and doctrinally pure. That is why we consider our beliefs listed below as essential to our walk with Christ.

What We Believe In

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. Eternally existing in three persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Venice ChurchJesus Christ is the Son of God and co-equal with God the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again someday to earth to reign as the King of Kings.

The Holy Spirit is co-equal to God the Father and Jesus the Son. The Spirit is present in the world to make people aware of their need for the Savior, Jesus Christ. The Spirit lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation, and provides them with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth and guidance in doing what’s right. The Spirit gives every believer at least one spiritual gift.

The Bible is God’s Word to us. Human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit composed it – it is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because God inspired it, the Bible is the truth without error.

People were created in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation.

Venice ChurchAlthough every person has tremendous potential for good, all are marred by disobedience to God. Disobedience to God is sin. Sin separates us from God and places us under God’s judgement.

Salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it. We can never be right with God through merely self-improvement and good deeds. It is only through trusting Jesus Christ, His sacrifice on the cross, and His resurrection that we can be forgiven of and saved from our sin. When we turn from our sin and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment that we receive Jesus Christ into our life.

People were created to live forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with God is Heaven. Heaven and Hell exist.

God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ and we are secure in that salvation for eternity. When a person is genuinely saved they cannot lose their salvation. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is God’s grace and forgiveness that gives us security.
